Baby Girl

So Tuesday March 8, 2011 i woke up at 5 a.m. and started the process of getting ready for the day ahead. I showered got dressed, did my hair and got the final things for the hospital ready. I was told to call the hospital at 6 a.m. to make sure they had an available room for me. When I called the lady i talked to told me to come in at 8, well my doctor had told me to get there at 7. That is why i woke up so early; when I called the hospital we were already ready to go. I was disappointed but when I told my mom she easily convinced us to just go. "It's not like they're going to tell you to go home." So we made our way from our apartment in Orem to St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake city. It normally takes about 40 minutes to get there but due to weather we did not get into the hospital until 7:30 a.m.

We arrived and had to do some final paperwork to get us settled in. We got to my room, I changed and we met our nurse. First things first was getting the IV started. I HATE NEEDLES! They freak me out, i mean i am really terrified of them; so i was not looking forward to the IV. Well lucky me my nurse had a really hard time finding a vein. She finally decided to go for it and yeah not the best feeling, and then... it wasn't a good vein, or something of that nature. So she took it out and mosied on over to the other side and same thing... she got a little blood out of it and then yada yada yada took it out. She then decided to ask someone for some assistance. When this other nurse came in same story... but at least this chick a dee didn't try and stab me. She knew she couldn't do it so she left and got but yet a third nurse. This lady was successful in puncturing me in the hand with the huge needle that would provide my fluids, meds, and pit.

It was 9:30 a.m. before they started the pit. My doc shortly came in and chit chatted, we talked about me wanting a epidural and how she wanted me at a 3 or 4 before. I then convinced her to break my water, which she was unsuccessful at. Apparently I was not dilated enough...? Who knew. So she left and told me she'd be back. The contractions started and I turned into a big baby. I really wanted to try and get to a 6 before the epidural. Well at 11 my nurse asked about my pain and I confessed that I was a wuss. She was really understanding and asked what the doctor said about how far she wanted me to be before the epidural. I told her and so she checked me. I was barely at a 3, if that and when i sat up, yep my water broke. So the nurse left to get the epidural dude. He came in and proceeded to stab me in the back with his massive horrifying needle. It was only slightly painful and felt very odd. He then left to do a C-section.

So the contractions went away apart from this one spot on my lower left side about the size of my hand. My nurse tried everything she knew that would normally take care of it and yeah... i could still feel everything. So for two more hours while we had to wait for Doc to get out of the C-section I got to feel the wonderful contraction. Oh My Goodness. It was awful. around 1:30 p.m. Doc came back and redid my epidural in a different spot. and poof, within twenty minutes gone! I was on top of the world!

She checked me then and i was at a 5 i think. and then a little after 3 p.m. she checked me again and I was at a ten! She called my doctor but it took her a bit to get there. I pushed for about an hour and ten minutes and then baby girl was here. She weighed 7 pounds 4.5 ounces and was 18 inches long. She was the cutest thing I had ever seen.

Baby Baby Baby

I know it has been a very long time since writing on here so I thought I'd update everyone a bit.

I am 38 and a half weeks pregnant and just went to the doctor early this morning. It was a wonderful visit. My doctor asked me about being induced a little early. I was all for it of course for a number of reasons. It obviously gets me my baby sooner, I am definitely looking forward to no longer being pregnant, and this will allow my mom to plan her trip so she wont miss a thing. We are scheduled to go in bright and early tuesday morning. I am not going to lie I am not looking forward to spending the whole day in the hospital, along with two more days afterward, but it is very exciting to know that baby will be here at least by Tuesday!

Paul and I have been called to teach primary at church. We teach CTR 5 and I love love love it. It's so great to teach these little cuties. We have several kids in our class that are very entertaining, and quite bright when it comes to things in the church. I also love just being in primary, going back to the basics of the church, how easy and simple it all is, and how it just makes sense. I feel so blessed to be a member of the church. To know all that I know gives me such great joy and happiness. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful family. They are so wonderful in so many ways, and to be able to be with them forever is such a great blessing that i will never take for granted.
